In the aftermath of Ned Stark's demise, his eldest son, Robb, leads a war against the Lannisters, capturing Jaime as a prisoner. Catelyn, Robb's mother, dispatches Brienne of Tarth to escort Jaime to King's Landing, aiming to negotiate for the release of her captive daughters. Meanwhile, in the capital, Sansa endures torment at the hands of Joffrey, who assumes the role of Hand of the King, while Tyrion, the youngest Lannister, collaborates with Cersei to prepare for the imminent threat posed by Stannis Baratheon's impending assault on the city. Despite Stannis's attack, King's Landing successfully repels the invasion.
